I like to use a light weight checkerboard game. On each of the squares I write an integer ( if I want the game to involve integers), or a decimal, or a fraction.
When the student plays checkers he/she must add, subtract, multiply or divide what is in the square they want to move to with the square they are presently in.
If they are going to jump an opponent's checker, they must properly use the number in the opponent's square plus the one in the square they want to move to.
